Empowering Diversity in the Physical Therapy Profession
MovementX is proud to work with PREP, the Physical Rehab Exposure Program, to educate young students on careers in physical therapy.

How PREP Works

ORIGIN STORY
Founded to Empower the Next Generation
Launched in August 2020 by Polo Edwards, Sabrina Altema, and Valerie Rucker-Bussie under the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), PREP was born out of a need to address the racial disparity in the physical therapy profession.
With only 3.7% of PTs being Black compared to the 13.6% Black population in the U.S., PREP aims to promote representation and effect change in health inequities. PREP has now joined forces with MovementX to further elevate the program’s impact and growth.
WHY PREP MATTERS
Stronger Diversity Means Better Health
Research shows that diversifying representation in the physical therapy profession is a crucial starting point for affecting change in health inequities.
Through close collaboration with high school teachers and local rehab professionals, PREP aims to empower students in grades 9-12 with unique opportunities to learn more about careers in various health professions.
Through classroom-style educational sessions, shadowing opportunities, mentorship and more, students who embrace PREP can get exposure to exciting career opportunities.

MOVEMENTX SUPPORT
Helping Every Body Move Their Best
At MovementX, we believe that everyone has the right to move and live their best—regardless of race, gender, age, ability, or background. By working with PREP, we’re helping create a more inclusive profession, better access to rehab services, and improved health outcomes.
Every time you refer a friend for physical therapy care at MovementX, we’ll donate $25.00 to PREP to help fund scholarships, educational sessions, and growth of the program to new cities across the United States.
